Little Noah was a kind boy with bright, curious eyes and a mop of curly brown hair. He lived with his mama and papa in a small village beside a sparkling river. One day, a grumpy cloud named Grumbles appeared. Grumbles grumbled and grumbled, bringing dark, heavy rain that filled the river until it flooded the village.
Noah's mama and papa worried. "We need to find higher ground!" Papa exclaimed, helping Noah onto his shoulders. Water surrounded the houses; everything was wet.
Noah saw a little bird, chirping sadly. "Why are you so sad, little bird?" he asked.
"Grumbles is angry," chirped the bird, fluffing its feathers. "He's making the rain never stop!"
A clever idea sparked in Noah's mind. He remembered the stories his grandpa told about rainbows. He looked up and saw...a tiny sliver of a rainbow! "Maybe we can use a rainbow to reach higher ground!" said Noah.
His parents looked at him, a little puzzled. "But how, son?" Mama asked.
Noah knew it was a big task. He spent the afternoon gathering bright flowers. He picked red poppies, yellow sunflowers, and blue cornflowers. He even found some shiny pebbles and smooth, grey river stones. With his parents' help, he used his little wooden wagon to carry all the colourful items to the highest point in the village. He carefully arranged the flowers and stones in a semi-circle, mimicking the shape of a rainbow.
It was getting darker, and the rain kept pouring. Noah made a wish, his small hands tight on the wagon handle. "Please Grumbles, stop the rain. We made you a pretty rainbow."
Slowly, the rain softened. Then a rainbow, much bigger and brighter than his little arrangement, appeared in the sky. A gentle wind blew, pushing away the clouds. Grumbles was gone. The bright sunshine warmed Noah's face. In the distance, a lovely rainbow bridge appeared, stretching to higher ground. And it was all the more beautiful thanks to Noah’s beautiful flower semi-circle.
Noah, mama, papa, and even the little bird walked across the rainbow bridge, safely arriving on dry land. The village was saved! From that day on, Noah was known as the boy who bridged the gap between the rain and the sun, creating an amazing rainbow bridge that became part of their village's beautiful history.
