Once upon a time, in a cozy little house nestled among apple trees, lived a girl named Cherry. But everyone called her Cheeky Cherry because, well, she was very cheeky! "Mommy, get me juice! Now!" she would shout, without saying please. When her mom asked her to tidy her toys, Cherry would stomp her feet and cry, "No! I don't want to! You do it!" Her little brother, Berry, would often sigh and say, "Oh, Cherry, why can't you be nice?"
One sunny morning, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. Grandma baked a delicious cherry pie, and Grandpa brought a bag full of colorful balloons. But Cheeky Cherry wasn't happy. "I want two balloons! And I want a bigger piece of pie!" she demanded, pointing her finger.
Grandma sighed. "Cherry, dear, it's important to use your manners. Saying 'please' and 'thank you' makes everyone happy."
Cheeky Cherry just stuck out her tongue. "I don't care!" she said, and ran off to her room, slamming the door behind her.
In her room, Cherry flopped onto her bed, feeling grumpy. She kicked her legs and mumbled to herself, "I don't need manners! I can get whatever I want!" Suddenly, she noticed a tiny glowing door she had never seen before. It was tucked behind her bookshelf, almost hidden from view. Curiosity tickled her nose, and she carefully opened the door.
Behind the door was a shimmering path that led into a magical forest. Sparkling fireflies danced in the air, and the trees whispered secrets in the gentle breeze. Cherry hesitated for a moment, then stepped onto the path. As she walked deeper into the forest, she saw a magnificent tree unlike any she had ever seen. It was covered in bright, colorful leaves that shimmered and sparkled in the sunlight. And hanging from its branches were not fruits, but glowing, golden words: 'Please,' 'Thank You,' 'Excuse Me,' and 'You're Welcome.'
A wise old owl perched on a branch above the tree. "Welcome, Cheeky Cherry," he hooted softly. "This is the Magical Manners Tree. Its leaves show the power of politeness."
Cherry frowned. "I don't need manners," she mumbled. "They're boring!"
The owl chuckled. "Are you sure? Watch closely." He pointed his wing towards a group of forest animals – a squirrel, a rabbit, and a hedgehog – who were trying to reach a juicy apple hanging from a high branch.
The squirrel chattered rudely, "Give me the apple! I saw it first!" The rabbit hopped impatiently, "Hurry up! I'm hungry!" And the hedgehog grumbled, "I deserve it more than you!"
The apple remained just out of reach. The animals argued and pushed each other, but the apple stayed firmly on the branch. Then, the owl nudged a 'Please' leaf, sending a glimmering wave of politeness through the air. The squirrel turned to the rabbit and said, "Excuse me, Rabbit, would you mind helping me reach the apple? Please."
The rabbit blinked in surprise. He smiled and said, "Of course, Squirrel! I'm taller. I can try!" Together, the squirrel sat on the rabbit's shoulders, and he was just tall enough to reach the apple. They shared the apple with the hedgehog, and all three enjoyed it together.
Cheeky Cherry watched in amazement. "Wow," she whispered. "Saying 'please' actually worked!"
The owl nodded. "Manners are like magic, Cherry. They make things easier and bring people together."
Cherry looked at the tree, then at her own hands. She thought about how she spoke to her mom, her brother, and her grandparents. A pang of guilt tugged at her heart. "But… it's hard to remember to say 'please' and 'thank you,'" she confessed.
"It takes practice," the owl said kindly. "Try starting with one word at a time. And remember, a smile always helps!"
Cherry spent some time at the Magical Manners Tree, observing the animals and chatting with the wise old owl. She learned that using manners wasn't about being boring or weak; it was about being kind and respectful to others. It was about creating happiness and making the world a nicer place.
Finally, it was time for Cherry to go home. She thanked the owl and promised to visit again soon. As she walked back through the shimmering path, she felt a little different. Lighter, perhaps. And definitely more hopeful.
When Cherry arrived back in her room, Grandma and Grandpa were still there. Grandma was reading a story to Berry, and Grandpa was trying to fix a broken toy truck.
Cheeky Cherry took a deep breath and walked over to Grandpa. "Grandpa," she said softly, "I'm sorry I was rude earlier. Could I… please help you fix the truck?"
Grandpa looked up in surprise, his eyes twinkling. He smiled warmly and said, "Of course, Cherry! That would be wonderful. Thank you for offering."
Together, Cherry and Grandpa fixed the truck. Cherry carefully held the pieces while Grandpa glued them together. She even helped him clean up the glue afterwards. And when they were finished, she said, "Thank you, Grandpa, for letting me help!"
Grandma and Berry watched with smiles on their faces. Grandma gave Cherry a big hug and said, "I'm so proud of you, Cherry! Using your manners makes everyone feel good."
From that day on, Cheeky Cherry tried her best to remember her manners. It wasn't always easy, and sometimes she still forgot. But whenever she did, she would remember the Magical Manners Tree and the wise old owl. She practiced saying 'please,' 'thank you,' 'excuse me,' and 'you're welcome' every day. And slowly but surely, she became known not as Cheeky Cherry, but as Kind Cherry. And that made everyone, including Cherry herself, very happy. One day cheeky cherry was being rude to her mom.
"Mommy, get me juice! Now!" she shouted, without saying please, she started to cry because her mom said no, because she asked so ruidely, so her mom left her to cry.
She stamped her feets! She started kicking the floor, her brother berry heard the comotion.
"Cherry! Please quiet down, you are so loud and rude and no one wants to be around you!"
Cherry shouted at Berry now, she ran upto him and tried to kick him in the shin, hitting him slightly. Berry said "what is wrong with you, you always kick, and push and shout? you're very rude."
Cherry went to her room and slammed to door behind her, feeling grumpy. She kicked her legs and mumbled to herself, I'm just being me! I dont need to be nice! but deep down she knew Berry was right and went to sleep sad. her Grandma picked her up from school the next day, Cherry stomped into the car, and Granma said oh cheer up, Cherry!" and Cherry replied, "Dont tell me what to do!" her grandma frowned a little but said nothing.
They picked up her grandpa next, Cherry demanded from grandpa "give me money! NOW!"
Grandpa said sternly to her "Cherry that is very rude, and you should always say please, i dont like your behaviour and attitude and i wont be giving you money if you are rude and dont use your maners."
Cherry started crying and Berry rolled his eyes.
When they got home Cheery ran to her room, angry and upset by being reprimanded by her family. Cheery began stomping her feet again and slammed her door, this time her mom was there and was very angry.
"Cherry. This is not appropriate, you need to calm down NOW. i am taking your ipad away from you and you need to sit here a think about how this makes me feel, and how this makes your brther feel and how this makes your grandparents feel."
Cherry shouted "I dont CAAAAaaaaare!" she started crying again and her mom left. eventually Cherry caled down and started to think.
She eventually stopped crying and went downstairs and said "Grandma, i am sorry i demanded money of you grandpa. and grampa i am sorry i was rude to you in the car, and mommy i am sorry i shouted and cried, and berry i am sorry i tried to kick you."
Her family told her they accepted hr apology and gave her a hug, her mom took her to the side and said "Cherry, if you are upset about things i want you to use your words, i want you to say 'i feel angry because ....' or 'I feel sad because...' or ' I feel like crying right now becasue ...' and then i want you to tell me waht i can do to help, and i will help. also shouting, hititng and being cheeky is not OK and dont do ti again please. now you can have your ipad again, but no more being cheeky!",
