Lina lived in a little cottage. It was near a sunny meadow. Apple trees grew there. They shimmered with morning dew. Butterflies fluttered above the grass. Lina loved to count. She counted everything around her. She counted apples. She counted marbles. She even counted stars!
One morning, Lina went to the apple tree. She wanted to count the apples. She saw many red apples. "One, two, three..." she started. She counted very carefully. "Four, five, six, seven!" Lina was so happy. She had seven apples!
Arun was Lina’s friend. He was a cheerful boy. He had a wooden toy cart. He loved to play with Lina. Lina decided to share her apples with Arun. She saw Arun playing near the meadow. She ran to him. "Arun, Arun!" she called. "I have apples!"
Arun smiled. "Apples! I love apples," he said. Lina showed him the seven apples. They looked so yummy and red. Lina said, "I want to give you some, Arun."
Lina thought. She had seven apples. She wanted to give Arun three apples. But how many would she have left? She thought very hard. Counting could be tricky!
Lina closed her eyes. She imagined the apples. She imagined they were glowing. They were like little shiny orbs. They hovered around her hands. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven glowing apples.
She pretended to give one apple to Arun. One glowing orb faded away. Now there were only six. She pretended to give another apple to Arun. Another glowing orb faded. Now there were five. She pretended to give one more apple to Arun. The third glowing orb faded. Now how many were left?
Lina opened her eyes. She looked at her hands. She imagined the glowing apples again. She counted the orbs that were still there. One, two, three, four! "I have four apples left!" she said happily.
Lina gave three real apples to Arun. Arun was very happy. "Thank you, Lina! These apples are so big and red." He put the apples in his wooden cart.
Suddenly, they heard a little giggle. "Hee hee hee!" Lina and Arun looked around. They didn't see anyone. "Who is that?" asked Arun.
"Maybe it's the wind," said Lina. But the wind wasn't blowing. Then, they saw something amazing. Three little lights were floating near the apple tree. They were like tiny, sparkly people.
"Hello!" said one of the lights. "We are the apple spirits." Lina and Arun were surprised. They had never seen apple spirits before.
The apple spirit said, "We saw you sharing the apples. That was very kind." Another spirit giggled. "We love kind children!"
The third spirit said, "We want to give you a gift." The spirits floated closer to Lina. They touched her hand. Suddenly, one more apple appeared in her hand. It was glowing just like the spirits!
The spirits floated to Arun. They touched his wooden cart. Suddenly, two more apples appeared in the cart! They glowed too!
"These are special apples," said one spirit. "They taste extra yummy. And they will always remind you to share."
"Thank you!" said Lina and Arun together. The apple spirits giggled again. "You're welcome!" Then, they floated away. They disappeared into the apple tree.
Lina and Arun looked at the glowing apples. They were so beautiful. Lina had five glowing apples now! Arun had five glowing apples too! They decided to eat one each.
Lina bit into her apple. It was the best apple she had ever tasted. It was sweet and juicy. It made her feel happy inside.
Arun bit into his apple. He smiled. "This is so yummy!" he said. He loved the special glowing apple.
Lina and Arun played together all day. They shared their glowing apples. They learned that sharing makes everyone happy. The sun began to set. It was time for Lina and Arun to go home.
Lina’s mother was waiting for her. "Lina, it's time for dinner," she said. Lina showed her mother the glowing apples. Her mother was amazed. "These are very special," she said. "You must be very kind to get such a gift."
Lina smiled. She knew she was lucky. She had a good friend. She had kind apple spirits. And she had a very loving mother.
Arun went home too. He showed his father the glowing apples. His father said, "These are wonderful, Arun. Sharing with friends is very important."

It was a funny watch, not like other watches. It had many tiny gears. It glowed a little, like a firefly. Boop picked up the watch. It felt smooth and cool. A tiny button was on the side.
