A Royal Kitchen Mystery
Akbar, the young emperor, peeked into the busy royal kitchen. Birbal, his clever friend, stood beside him. They saw a big, old wooden trunk. "What's inside?" Akbar wondered, his fingers tracing the locked lid. It sat beneath shelves full of spice sacks, smelling of cinnamon.
Trying Every Turn
Akbar pulled on the trunk's handle. It wouldn't budge. Birbal pushed with his strong hands. No luck! They tried to lift it, but it was too heavy. A little parrot on a perch nearby chirped loudly, as if laughing at their tries.
Cook's Clever Clue
The head cook smiled. "That trunk," he declared, his voice warm, "opens only with a special word! A riddle, you might say." He chuckled, stirring a big pot. Akbar's eyes widened. A riddle! How exciting!
The First Hint
The cook stirred his pot slowly. "I have cities, but no houses. I have mountains, but no trees. I have water, but no fish. What am I?" he sang. Akbar pulled out his satchel of riddles, eager to match the words.
Birbal's Brainstorm
Birbal looked at a giant map hanging on the kitchen wall. It showed lands far away. He saw little pictures of cities, mountains, and rivers. No houses, no trees, no fish. A big smile spread across his face.
The Magic Word
Akbar hurried to the cook. "It's a map!" he shouted happily. The cook nodded, his eyes twinkling. "That's right, young emperor!" He gently touched the trunk's lock. It clicked loudly! The lock was open!
