A Garden Without Buzz
Alex loved the school garden more than anything. Every day, Alex would rush to the garden right after class. The garden was usually filled with the happy buzzing of bees and the flutter of colorful butterflies. Alex loved watching them fly from flower to flower. But today, something was wrong. Very wrong. Alex noticed that the garden was quiet, too quiet. The flowers were still beautiful, but there were no bees buzzing around them. There were no butterflies dancing in the air either. Alex felt a pang of sadness in their little heart. "Where did everyone go?" Alex wondered. Ms. Green, the kind teacher who took care of the garden, noticed Alex's worried face. She gently asked, "What's wrong, Alex? You look a little sad.". Alex pointed to the silent flowers. "The bees and butterflies are gone! The garden doesn't feel happy without their buzz.". Ms. Green looked thoughtfully at the flowers. She nodded slowly. "You're right, Alex. The garden does feel a little empty without them.". Ms. Green explained that bees and butterflies are very important for the garden. They help the flowers make fruits and seeds. Without them, the garden wouldn't be so colorful and full of yummy vegetables. Alex listened carefully, their eyes wide with concern. Alex was very worried and wanted to do something to help the bees.
A Plan to Help the Pollinators
Ms. Green smiled at Alex's eagerness to help. "Don't worry, Alex. I think we can do something to bring them back.". Ms. Green suggested that they could learn about why the bees and butterflies were gone. Maybe they didn't have enough food, or maybe their homes weren't safe. Alex's eyes sparkled with excitement. "We can be detectives and find out why they left!" Alex exclaimed. Ms. Green chuckled and agreed. First, they went to the school library. Ms. Green helped Alex find books about bees, butterflies, and flowers. They looked at colorful pictures and read interesting facts together. They learned that bees and butterflies need special flowers that give them sweet nectar. They also learned that some bees and butterflies need safe places to build their nests. Ms. Green explained that many gardens use special sprays to keep bugs away. This spray is harmful to the bees and can make them leave the garden. Alex and Ms. Green talked about what they could do to make the garden a bee and butterfly paradise. They decided to plant more of the flowers that bees and butterflies love. They also decided to make a safe place for them to rest and build their homes. Alex felt a surge of determination. "We're going to make the garden the best place for bees and butterflies again!" Alex said with a big smile. They decided to make a list of everything they needed for their mission. It was exciting to think about how they could help. Alex was determined to bring the buzz back the garden.
