Once upon a time, in a cozy little house, lived a very funny family. There was Mama, who sang sweet lullabies. There were two happy children, Silly Giggles and Happy Pop, who loved to play. And then there was Big Fat Daddy, who was always, always, always hungry! His tummy made rumble-tumble sounds all day long. Big Fat Daddy was quite tall and round, like a big, soft teddy bear. He had a big, friendly face that was usually smiling, except when he was super hungry. His hair was a warm, chocolate brown, and his eyes sparkled like two happy marbles. He liked to wear comfy, loose shirts, usually blue or green, and always had a big, warm smile for everyone. He didn't wear fancy things, just simple clothes that let him move and eat easily.
His children were just as sweet. Silly Giggles was a little girl, with bouncy pigtails that danced when she giggled. She had bright, curious eyes, like two shiny buttons, and loved to wear her favorite pink dress with little flower appliques. Happy Pop was a little boy, a bit taller than Silly Giggles, with hair like fluffy clouds. His eyes were wide with wonder, and he always had a toy truck in his hand. He wore a comfy blue shirt and green shorts, perfect for running and jumping. And then there was Boop the Sweet, their furry cat. Boop was a soft, fluffy cat with bright green eyes and a tail that swished like a happy plume. Boop loved to nap in sunny spots and chase bouncy balls.
Big Fat Daddy loved food. He loved breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He loved snacks in between. He loved to munch on apples, chomp on crackers, and gobble up yummy bread. He could eat almost anything! One sunny morning, Big Fat Daddy was sitting in his comfy chair, reading his favorite book. Suddenly, his nose began to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle! Sniff, sniff, sniff! He smelled something new. Something yummy! It was a magical smell. It smelled like warm cookies and sweet cake and crispy chips all at once. "Oh, what's that delicious smell?" he rumbled, his tummy making extra-loud grumbles. This smell was special. It wasn’t like Mama’s yummy soup or crunchy toast. This smell tingled his nose and made his feet want to follow it.
The magical smell floated out from the kitchen and into the living room. It was getting stronger! Big Fat Daddy closed his book. His eyes were wide with wonder, and he stood up very slowly, his big body swaying a little. He followed the smell. Sniff, sniff, sniff! It led him to the window. Outside, in the bright green grass, Boop the Sweet, the fluffy cat, was chasing a butterfly. Boop was a lovely cat, soft and white, with little pink paws. The magical smell floated right past Boop. And then, a very, very strange thing happened! Poof! Boop the Sweet didn't look like a cat anymore. Boop turned into a big, round, sugary donut! It had sprinkles on top, glinting in the sun.
Big Fat Daddy's eyes grew even wider. A donut! A warm, sweet donut! And it smelled so, so, so good! His tummy gave a giant rumble-tumble shout. He couldn't resist. He loved donuts! He leaned down and took a big, big bite. Munch, munch, munch! The donut was delicious. He ate the whole thing! "Oh, that was a yummy donut!" he said with a sigh, his tummy feeling a little happier. He didn't even notice that Boop the Sweet was gone. He just thought, 'What a very surprising donut!'
The magical smell didn't stop there. It began to float all around the house. It twirled and swirled from room to room. Big Fat Daddy followed it. Sniff, sniff, sniff! The smell led him to Silly Giggles' room. Silly Giggles was playing with her colorful blocks. She was dressed in her favorite pink dress, with little ribbons in her hair. Happy Pop was there too, building a tall tower with his blocks. He had a bright blue shirt on. The magical smell drifted over them. Poof! Silly Giggles turned into a sparkling, sugary lollipop! It was pink and swirly, just like her dress. And Happy Pop? Poof! He turned into a chewy, gooey gummy bear! He was bright blue, just like his shirt.
Big Fat Daddy gasped! Two more treats! A swirly lollipop and a yummy gummy bear! They smelled so sweet and so delicious. His hunger was making him forget everything else. His big, friendly face was now focused only on the yummy treats. His mouth watered. He picked up the lollipop first. Lick, lick, lick! It was so sweet! Then he chomped on the gummy bear. Chew, chew, chew! He ate both of them. "Mmm, mmm, mmm," he hummed, patting his tum-tum. He didn't even realize that his beloved children, Silly Giggles and Happy Pop, were gone. He was just too hungry to think clearly. The magical smell was making him just want to eat and eat and eat.
Now, the magical smell was getting even stronger! It pulled Big Fat Daddy to the kitchen. Mama was baking a delicious apple pie. Mama was a kind and loving lady, with warm, brown hair that she tied back with a pretty colorful ribbon. She always wore a bright apron when she was baking. The magical smell swirled around Mama. Poof! Mama didn't look like Mama anymore. Mama turned into a big, beautiful, fluffy cake! It was a vanilla cake, with pink frosting and sprinkles, just like her ribbon. It smelled absolutely heavenly!
Big Fat Daddy stared. A giant cake! His eyes were like saucers. He couldn't believe his luck. A whole cake, just for him! His tummy roared like a gentle lion. This was the best smell ever! He didn't think about his sweet Mama. He just saw a yummy, yummy cake. He took a huge bite. Then another, and another! Big Fat Daddy ate the whole cake! He licked the frosting from his lips. "Oh, that was the most wonderful cake I've ever eaten!" he grumbled happily, his tummy now feeling very, very full and round. He sat down heavily in his chair, feeling sleepy and content.
But the magical smell was still there! It was much fainter now, but it was still pulling, pulling, pulling him. Big Fat Daddy yawned. He felt a little sleepy after all that eating. But the smell! He had to follow the smell. Sniff, sniff, sniff! The smell led him out of the kitchen, past the living room, and toward the back door. It led him outside, to the backyard. The smell was coming from the side of the house. It was coming from near the trash cans. The regular trash can, big and green, had regular trash in it. But the smell was coming from behind the trash can. It was hiding.
He slowly waddled over, his big, full tummy swinging as he walked. He peered behind the big green trash can. And there it was! A little, sparkly bottle, glowing with soft, purple light. It smelled so, so, so good! It smelled like everything yummy in the world. It was the magical smell! The bottle was glowing and seemed to hum a little tune. Right next to the glowing bottle, in a small, forgotten pile, was a very old, very dirty diaper. It had been left there a long, long time ago.
Big Fat Daddy, still under the spell of the super yummy smell, saw the sparkly bottle and the old diaper. His mind was still on eating. He thought, 'Maybe this diaper is a special, super-duper yummy treat that smells even better! What a silly thing to be next to such a magical smell!' He wasn't thinking clearly because of the hungry magic. He still just wanted to eat. Without thinking, he reached out his pudgy hand and picked up the old, stinky diaper. He thought it was another magical treat, enchanted by the sparkly bottle.
He opened his big mouth and took a big, big bite of the old, dirty diaper. Chew, chew, chew! "Yuk!" he cried. "Phooey!" It tasted absolutely terrible! It was the most yucky, stinky, disgusting thing he had ever put in his mouth! It was not sweet like a donut. It was not chewy like a gummy bear. It was not delicious like Mama's cake. It was just plain awful! He scrunched up his nose. His eyes squeezed shut. He felt a giant burp rumble deep in his tummy. A big, big, giant burp! "B-U-R-P!" he went, very loudly.
And then, a most wonderful, amazing thing happened! With that giant burp, out popped Boop the Sweet, the fluffy white cat! Boop landed softly on the grass, shook her paws, and looked up at Big Fat Daddy with wide, green eyes. Meow! Then, out popped Silly Giggles, the little girl with dancing pigtails! She landed with a small giggle, looking around with her bright, curious eyes. And right after her, out popped Happy Pop, the little boy, still holding his toy truck! He blinked, then smiled. And last, but certainly not least, out popped Mama, looking a little dizzy but smiling her sweet smile! She smoothed her apron and looked at Big Fat Daddy.
Big Fat Daddy blinked. He looked at Boop. He looked at Silly Giggles. He looked at Happy Pop. And he looked at Mama. They were all back! His family was safe! He hugged them all very, very tight. "Oh, my dear family!" he exclaimed, his big, friendly face now filled with joy, not just hunger. "I'm so sorry! That magical smell made me do silly things!" He finally understood what had happened. He had eaten his own family because the magical smell had tricked him.
Mama, Silly Giggles, Happy Pop, and Boop the Sweet all hugged Big Fat Daddy back. They were so happy to be normal again. The magical smell was still coming from the sparkly bottle. Everyone looked at it. "We must put this magical smell away," Mama said gently. "It's too mischievous!" Big Fat Daddy carefully picked up the glowing, sparkly bottle. It still smelled kind of good, but he knew it was tricky. He walked to the shed, a little wooden house in the backyard where tools were kept. He found a big, strong, metal box. It had a clicky lock. He put the sparkly bottle inside the box. Click! The box was locked tight.
He then picked up the box. It was heavy, but Big Fat Daddy was strong. He decided the very best place for the tricky bottle was deep underground, where its magic wouldn't bother anyone. He found a shovel in the shed. He dug a deep, deep hole in the backyard, near the biggest oak tree. The hole was much deeper than him! Then he placed the metal box, with the glowing bottle inside, at the very bottom of the hole. With a grunt and a puff, he pushed all the dirt back into the hole, covering the box completely. He made sure the ground was flat again.
"There," he said, wiping his brow. "No more magical smells for Big Fat Daddy!" He still loved food, but he promised himself he would always, always, always think before he ate. He would check if it was truly food, and if it belonged to his family. From that day on, Big Fat Daddy still loved to eat. He still had a rumbling tummy. But he always made sure his food was just food, and not his beloved family. And the magical smell stayed locked away, deep under the ground, so it couldn't turn anyone into yummy treats ever again. The family lived happily ever after, with lots of yummy, non-magical food, and many, many happy, normal cuddles.
