Once upon a spring morning, the city garden was quiet.
Tall fruit trees stood in neat rows.
Bright flower beds rested on the soft ground.
In the middle, a fountain hummed when the wind blew. Hoo-hum, hoo-hum!
It was Earth Day, but the little pears were sour.
Mr. Ito walked down the path.
He held his shiny Japanese garden shears.
His little radio played the gentle sound of rain. Pitter-patter.
"The fruit needs joy today," said Mr. Ito softly.
Mira stepped into the warm sunshine.
She wore her yellow sun hat and held a notebook.
Inside were songs made just for green plants.
Right beside her hovered Bzz.
Bzz was a cheerful robot bee.
He had flower-pattern wings and a microphone thorax.
Whir-buzz, whir-buzz! went his tiny wings.
"Can we sing to the trees?" asked Mira.
Bzz blinked his gentle blue lights.
Mira opened her notebook to a cozy song.
She sang to the smallest pear tree.
Her voice was soft and sweet like honey.
Bzz clicked his microphone and sang too. La-la-bzzz!
The breeze blew, and the stone fountain hummed along.
The little green pears began to wiggle.
They drank the happy song and grew big.
Their green skin turned golden and warm.
Mr. Ito snipped one fruit with his shears. Snip-snap!
He took a gentle bite. Crunch!
The juice was sweet and warm like sunshine.
Mr. Ito smiled and clapped his hands.
Mira hugged her notebook, and Bzz buzzed with joy.
The whole garden felt safe and snug.
