At first, Dorian struggled, his inventions clumsy and ineffective against the ancient magic of the shield. But with each failed attempt, he learned and adapted, his determination growing stronger. He mixed his modern gadgets with pieces of metal lying all round to create the device he needed to repair the runes. Slowly, painstakingly, the cracks began to close, the constellations aligning into their original pattern. With the shield repaired, Hephaestus used his divine hammer to reinforce the magical seals, trapping Chronos's shadow once more. The forge fell silent, the tension replaced by a sense of relief. Hephaestus clapped Dorian on the shoulder, a rare smile gracing his lips. "You have a gift, young one," he said. "And a courage that surpasses even some of the gods. Use them wisely." Dorian, exhausted but exhilarated, knew he would never forget his adventure in Hephaestus's forge. He had faced an ancient evil and, with the help of a god, had emerged victorious. He was not just a boy with inventions anymore; he was a hero who had saved the world, one broken shield at a time.
