Once upon a time, in a land filled with sparkling rivers and candy-colored trees, lived a little girl named Lily. Lily was three years old and loved to wear her bright yellow boots. One sunny morning, Lily was playing near the Whispering Woods. The Whispering Woods were not scary; they just sounded like they were telling secrets when the wind blew!
Lily skipped along a path, her boots making happy 'thump, thump' sounds. She carried her favorite toy, a fluffy purple bear named Mr. Snuggles. As she walked, she saw something small and green hiding behind a big, blue flower. Lily peeked closer. It was a tiny dinosaur! He was smaller than Mr. Snuggles and looked very sad.
The little dinosaur had big, round eyes and tiny, wobbly legs. He was trying to reach a bright red berry high up on a bush. But he was too short! Lily giggled. "Hello! I'm Lily. Are you okay?" she asked. The little dinosaur looked up at her and made a tiny squeak. "Squeak! Hungry!" he said. Lily understood. He wanted the berry!
Lily tried to pick the berry for him. She reached up, up, up! But the berry was too high for her too. She thought for a moment. How could she get the berry for her new friend? She looked around. She saw a small, smooth rock on the ground. Lily picked up the rock and looked at the berry again. She smiled. Maybe she could knock the berry down!
Lily carefully threw the rock. It went thump against the bush. The berry wiggled, but it didn’t fall. Uh oh! She tried again. Thump! Still no berry. Lily didn’t give up. She tried one more time. She aimed very carefully and threw the rock. Thump! This time, the berry fell right down to the ground!
The little dinosaur squealed with joy. He waddled over to the berry and gobbled it up. “Yummy!” he said. Lily smiled. She was so happy she could help. "What's your name?" Lily asked the little dinosaur. "Dino!" the little dinosaur chirped back. Lily thought Dino was a perfect name.
Now, Dino started to cry. Big tears rolled down his face. “Lost! Mama!” he said between sobs. Lily felt sad for Dino. He was lost and missed his mommy. She knew what that felt like. One time, she lost Mr. Snuggles in the park, and she was very sad until she found him again. Lily knew she had to help Dino find his mama.
“Don’t worry, Dino! I’ll help you find your mama!” Lily said. She took Dino’s tiny hand, and they started walking into the Whispering Woods. The trees whispered secrets as they walked. Lily looked left and right, trying to see if she could find Dino’s mama. Dino looked scared, so Lily started to sing a happy song. She sang, “Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are!” Dino started to giggle. He liked her song.
They walked and walked, but they didn't see Dino's mama anywhere. Lily started to feel a little tired. Finding a dinosaur mama was harder than she thought! She sat down on a big, soft patch of green grass. Dino sat next to her, looking sad again. Lily wrapped her arms around him. "We'll find her, Dino. Don't worry," she said softly.
Lily noticed something sparkly near a tall, candy-colored tree. She stood up and walked closer. It was a shiny, silver feather! The feather was very big, bigger than Lily’s head! She picked it up. It was smooth and soft. Lily wondered where it came from. Maybe it belonged to a giant bird?
Suddenly, Lily heard a loud ROAR! The ground shook a little bit. Lily was scared, but she held Dino close. The roar came again, louder this time. Lily followed the sound. She tiptoed behind some big, leafy bushes. And then, she saw her! It was a very, very big dinosaur! She was even bigger than the candy-colored trees!
The big dinosaur looked just like Dino, but much, much bigger. She had the same big, round eyes and the same tiny, wobbly legs, but bigger. Lily knew right away that this was Dino's mama! The big dinosaur looked sad and worried. She was calling out, "Dino! Dino!" Lily knew she had to help.
Lily carefully walked out from behind the bushes. She held Dino up high so his mama could see him. “Mama! Mama! Dino!” Lily called out. The big dinosaur saw Dino and her eyes lit up. She rushed over to Lily and Dino. She lowered her head and nudged Dino gently with her nose. Dino squealed with happiness.
The big dinosaur licked Dino all over. Dino giggled and licked his mama back. Lily smiled. She was so happy that Dino and his mama were together again. The big dinosaur looked at Lily and made a soft, rumbling sound. Lily thought it was her way of saying “Thank you.”
Lily knew it was time to say goodbye. She gave Dino a gentle hug. “Goodbye, Dino! Be a good little dinosaur,” she said. Dino squeaked and waved his tiny hand. Lily waved back. Then, Dino and his mama walked away into the Whispering Woods. Lily watched them until they disappeared behind the trees.
Lily picked up Mr. Snuggles and started walking back home. She was tired but happy. She helped a little dinosaur find his mama! That was a very big adventure. As she walked, she thought about Dino and his mama. She knew they would be happy together. The Whispering Woods whispered secrets as she walked, maybe even secrets about Dino and his mama.
When Lily got home, she told her mama all about her adventure. Her mama smiled and gave her a big hug. "You're a very brave and kind girl, Lily," her mama said. Lily snuggled close to her mama and Mr. Snuggles. She knew she would never forget her adventure with Dino. That night, as she drifted off to sleep, she dreamed of sparkling rivers, candy-colored trees, and a little dinosaur who found his way back home, and she knows good friendship and great confidence could help everyone overcome the hardest struggles and achieve the impossible.
