Once upon a time, in a land far away, lived Ellie the Elephant, Ziggy the Zebra, and Gigi the Giraffe. They were best friends and loved to play together. One sunny morning, Ellie said, “Let’s go on a big trip!”
Ziggy jumped up and down. “Where should we go?” he asked.
Gigi smiled. “How about Japan?” she suggested. “I hear it’s full of yummy snacks and colorful things!”
Ellie and Ziggy loved the idea. “Japan, here we come!” they all shouted. They packed their bags with snacks and toys. They got ready for their first airplane ride. They were so excited!
Now, there was a grumpy Tiger named Tom. Tom always wanted to join their games, but he was often mean. When Tom heard about the trip to Japan, he felt very sad. “They never invite me,” he grumbled.
Tom thought hard. “Maybe if I give them presents, they will let me come.” He went to the store and bought some gifts. He got Ellie a shiny new camera. He got Ziggy a bright, striped travel bag. And he got Gigi a beautiful, flowery dress. Tom hoped they would like his gifts.
The next day, Tom went to Ellie, Ziggy, and Gigi. “Hello, friends,” he said shyly. “I heard you are going to Japan. I wanted to give you these.” He gave Ellie the camera. “This is for you, Ellie, so you can take lots of pictures.”
Ellie’s eyes widened. “Wow, Tom, it’s so shiny!” she said. She took the camera and pretended to take a picture of Ziggy.
Tom then gave Ziggy the travel bag. “This is for you, Ziggy, to carry all your favorite things.”
Ziggy zipped and unzipped the bag. “It’s perfect! Thank you, Tom!” he exclaimed, stuffing a toy car inside.
Finally, Tom gave Gigi the flowery dress. “This is for you, Gigi. I hope you like it.”
Gigi twirled around in the dress. “It’s so pretty! Thank you, Tom!” she said. “It’s my favorite color!”
Ellie, Ziggy, and Gigi looked at each other. They never expected Tom to be so nice. Ellie said, “Tom, these gifts are so thoughtful. Thank you!”
Ziggy added, “Yes, Tom, we really appreciate it.”
Gigi smiled warmly. “Tom, would you like to come to Japan with us?” she asked.
Tom’s eyes lit up. “Really? You mean it?” he asked.
Ellie nodded. “Yes, Tom! We would love for you to come.”
Ziggy cheered. “The more, the merrier!”
Tom was so happy he could hardly believe it. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” he said. “I promise to be a good friend.” Tom ran home to pack his bag.
The next morning, Ellie, Ziggy, Gigi, and Tom all went to the airport. They boarded the airplane together. Tom sat by the window. He watched the clouds go by. He was amazed at how high they were flying.
When they arrived in Japan, everything was new and exciting. They saw tall buildings and colorful signs. They smelled yummy food cooking in the streets. Ellie took pictures with her new camera. Ziggy carried his toys in his new bag. Gigi wore her flowery dress. Tom walked beside them, smiling.
First, they visited a beautiful park. The park was filled with cherry blossom trees. The pink flowers were so pretty. Ellie took lots of pictures of the flowers. Ziggy chased butterflies. Gigi made a flower crown. Tom helped her find the prettiest blossoms.
Next, they went to a special garden with a big pond. They saw colorful fish swimming in the pond. Ellie took pictures of the fish. Ziggy tried to catch the fish with his hands, but they were too quick. Gigi watched them swim and made wishes. Tom pointed out the biggest fish in the pond.
They also visited a tall, tall tower. From the top, they could see the whole city. Ellie took pictures of the view. Ziggy pointed out all the tiny cars below. Gigi imagined she was a bird flying above the city. Tom helped them spot the famous landmarks.
One day, they went to a fun place called a ‘market’. There were so many new things to see, smell, and touch. The market was crowded and noisy, but lots of fun. There were toys, clothes, and delicious food. Ellie took pictures of the colorful stalls. Ziggy found a toy car he wanted. Gigi bought a new ribbon for her hair. Tom helped them find the best treats.
In the market, Ziggy accidentally bumped into a stack of boxes. The boxes tumbled down with a loud crash! Everyone turned to look. Ziggy felt very embarrassed. He started to cry. “I didn’t mean to,” he sobbed. “I’m so sorry!”
Tom kneeled down next to Ziggy. “It’s okay, Ziggy,” he said gently. “Accidents happen. We can fix it together.” Tom helped Ziggy pick up the boxes.
Ellie and Gigi helped too. Together, they stacked the boxes back up. The market vendor smiled at them. He was happy they helped clean up the mess.
Ziggy felt much better. He hugged Tom. “Thank you for helping me,” he said.
Tom smiled. “That’s what friends are for,” he replied.
As the days went by, Ellie, Ziggy, Gigi, and Tom had many adventures. They tried new foods like sushi and mochi. They learned to say “Konnichiwa” (hello) and “Arigato” (thank you).
They even wore special clothes called kimonos. Ellie’s kimono was blue. Ziggy’s kimono was green. Gigi’s kimono was pink. Tom’s kimono was orange. They looked so fancy!
One evening, they watched a beautiful fireworks show. The fireworks lit up the night sky with bright colors. Ellie took pictures of the fireworks. Ziggy clapped his hands with joy. Gigi danced to the rhythm of the explosions. Tom pointed out the different shapes and colors.
On their last day, they sat together on a bench. They looked back at all the fun things they had done. They felt happy and grateful.*
Ellie said, “This was the best trip ever!”
Ziggy nodded. “I loved the park and the fish!”
Gigi smiled. “I loved the fireworks and the flowers!”
Tom added, “I loved being with my friends.”
They promised to come back to Japan again someday. They hugged each other tightly.
The next morning, they packed their bags. They went back to the airport. They boarded the airplane. They waved goodbye to Japan.
Back home, they looked at Ellie’s pictures. They remembered all the fun they had. They knew their friendship was special. And they knew that even grumpy tigers can be good friends if they try.
From that day on, Tom was never mean again. He learned that being kind and helpful makes everyone happy. Ellie, Ziggy, and Gigi continued to be best friends with Tom. They played together every day. They shared toys and snacks. And they always remembered their magical trip to Japan.
The End.
