Waking Up with the Sun
Olive the owl lived in a tall, green tree. Her tree was in a magical forest. The forest had big trees and happy flowers. One morning, Olive woke up. The sun was shining bright. Sunny the butterfly flew by. Sunny was yellow and orange. She fluttered her wings. "Good morning, Olive!" Sunny said. Olive blinked her big eyes. She looked at Sunny. "Good morning!" Olive said back. She wanted to know about the sun. She wanted to know why it was so bright. Olive was very curious. Sunny smiled. "I can show you!" Sunny said. They flew up, up, up above the trees. The sun felt warm on Olive's feathers. She giggled. The world looked so big from up high. Far away, she could se a tiny house with smoke rising from the chimney. A tiny red car was driving towards the house. Olive and Sunny flew down towards the ground. The trees greeted them as they passed, swaying their branches as they did. It felt as though the forest was saying hello. As soon as they made it back the forest floor, Sunny stopped by some colourful flowers and ate some of the nectar. Then they set off on their adventure.
Sunny's Daytime Lesson
Sunny showed Olive the forest in the daytime. She zipped and zoomed around, which made Olive dizzy. They saw busy squirrels finding nuts. Tiny ants marched in a long line. "The sun helps everything grow!" Sunny said. Olive watched the trees sway. The leaves looked green and shiny. She saw a little deer drinking water. Olive learned that sunshine helps the plants. It helps the animals too. "Wow!" Olive said. "The sun is very important!" She was happy to learn new things. Sunny showed Olive colorful flowers. Bees buzzed around the flowers. The bees were collecting nectar. "The sun helps the flowers bloom!" Sunny said. Olive smelled the sweet flowers. They smelled like honey and sunshine. Olive had never seen so many things. She was excited to learn more. She wanted to know everything about the day. She was so happy she got to experience this with Sunny. They decided to stop for a moment and Sunny ate some of the delicious nectar that she spotted.
Meeting Starry at Twilight
The sun started to go down. The sky turned orange and purple. Sunny said goodbye to Olive. "See you tomorrow!" Sunny said. Olive felt a little sad. It grew darker and darker. The forest became quiet as the sun rested for the evening. Suddenly, a little light blinked. It was Starry the firefly. Starry glowed softly. "Hello, Olive!" Starry said. Olive looked at Starry. She had never seen a firefly before. "Hello!" Olive said surprised. She wondered what Starry was going to show her. Starry chuckled and blinked at Olive to not worry. "I will show you the stars!" Starry said. So Olive flew with Starry away from the trees. They went to a big, open field. Usually Olive likes to be up in her tree, but being down here next to Starry, felt like the right thing to do. A small breeze blew her feathers. Starry chuckled and then suddenly took to the sky. She danced around Olive's face, signalling for her to follow. Olive was so excited. She finally got to see what the night had in store for her. It was a new experience to go through the night.
